"The Carnival's back in town y'know. It totally sucks, but I'm still gonna go!"
Mr. Buckingham

Billy Crane's Traveling Carnival is located southeast of Old Bullworth Vale. It is accessed through a tunnel leading out of Old Bullworth Vale. It is a fairly large carnival consisting of various minigames, rides, and other attractions. Despite the name, the carnival doesn't appear to travel, and it is open from Chapter 2 onwards. Admission costs $1.

Attractions[]

Rides[]

Big Canyon Railway
The Big Squid

There are three rides available at the carnival, all of which are manned by Freeley. The Big Squid is a spinning ride of sorts, while Big Canyon Railway is a roller coaster, likely a wooden one. There is also a Ferris Wheel named Round the World. Each of these rides costs $1 to ride. When riding them, the screen regularly changes to a first person POV to simulate the feeling of being on them. If Jimmy rides too often, he may speak about vomiting and, sometimes, students may appear vomiting after the ride.

The first time Jimmy rides the Big Squid, he will get a G&G card.

Midway Games[]

There are four midway games at the carnival, where Jimmy can play for prize tickets. How many tickets he wins depends on how well he performs. The tickets can then be exchanged for prizes at the Prize Tent. Be reminded that completing Photography 5 doubles the number of tickets Jimmy earns every time he wins a game.

Strike Out[]

Strike out

This game is run by Dorsey and costs $1 to play. It is a baseball-themed throwing game. Jimmy is given six baseballs and must throw those balls at moving targets. The targets appear in three rows and move from one side to another, and they are as follows:

  • Catcher: This is the target Jimmy has to aim for; when hit, all targets in the row it appeared in will disappear.
  • Batter: If Jimmy hits one of these, he loses one ball.
  • Umpire: If Jimmy hits one of these, he loses the game immediately.
  • Mitt: This appears once per game and, when hit, counts as hitting a Catcher; Jimmy can try to hit this target for a bonus.

To win this game, Jimmy has to hit three Catchers before he runs out of balls. The reward is three tickets, or four if the Mitt was also hit.

High Striker[]

Strike

This game is run by Crystal and costs $1 to play. It is a test of strength game where one tries to swing a hammer at a target. The player must mash a button to get Jimmy to build power for the swing. There is a time limit for this; should the player fail to press the button enough times, Jimmy will fall over. To win this game, Jimmy has to reach the score of 70 or more, with the reward depending on the final score, as follows:

  • 70+: One ticket
  • 80+: Two tickets
  • 100: Three tickets

Splish Splash[]

Splish Splash

This game is run by Hector and costs $1 to play. It is a dunk tank game, with Hector seated in the dunk tank. Jimmy is given three attempts to hit the target beside the dunk tank with a ball to drop Hector into the water. The gameplay is similar to Penalty Shots. To win this game, Jimmy has to hit the bullseye on the target before he runs out of balls. The reward is three tickets.

Shooting Range[]

Shooting range

This game is run by Crystal and costs $2 to play. It is a western-themed shooting range where one is given a rubber band gun and must shoot moving targets flying by a fairly long backdrop. The objective here is to get as high a score as possible in one minute. The targets are as follows:

  • Bottle: This is the most common target, appearing from the bottom of the backdrop before retracting; when hit, it is worth 5 points.
  • Outlaw: This appears from the bottom of the backdrop, then moves sideways at varying speeds before retracting; when hit, it is worth 10 or 15 points, depending on how fast it was moving.
  • Cowgirl: This appears with the movement behavior similar to the bottle or, on rare occasions, the outlaw; when hit, 10 points are deducted.
  • Sheriff's Star: This appears once per game with the movement behavior similar to the outlaw; when hit, it is worth 50 points.

To win this game, Jimmy has to score at least 100 points, with the reward depending on the final score, as follows:

  • 100+ points: One ticket
  • 140+ points: Two tickets
  • 180+ points: Three tickets
  • 220+ points: Four tickets
  • 260+ points: Five tickets
  • 350+ points: Fifteen tickets
  • 400+ points: Twenty tickets

This is by far the most lucrative game at the carnival for the purpose of winning prize tickets, as Jimmy can win many tickets by performing exceptionally well here, especially if he happens to have also shot the Sheriff's Star. The projectile hits from this game also count towards the unlock progression for the Green Ninja Outfit.

Freak Show[]

Main article: Freak Show

A typical freak show, showcasing seven freaks inside their own rooms, protected by a glass barrier. While Jimmy cannot normally interact with any of these freaks, he can earn money by betting on the midget wrestling inside of this attraction. This is also visited during Photography 5.

Easy Money Trick: The player can save at the beach house that becomes available after passing Prep Challenge, then head straight to the midget wrestling within the freak show and bet $100 on one of the wrestlers. If the player wins, they should return to the beach house and save. If they lose, they should reload the save file and try again. The process can be repeated indefinitely. Moreover, repeteadly saving may not be necessary if the player can guess who is about to win; if the fighter they bet won is about to lose the fight, they may just leave the midget wrestling area, and they will be given back the amount of money they bet on the fight without facing any penalties.

Go-Kart Races[]

Main article: Go-Kart Races

The carnival's Go-Kart track, run by Crystal. The entrance is located between the Ferris Wheel and the Freak Show. Here, Jimmy can participate in Go-Kart Races for prize tickets, with entry costing $1.

Arcade[]

A console for each arcade game can be found inside the Prize Tent.

Other Attractions[]

  • Fortune Teller: There is a fortune teller machine located just across the Prize Tent, between the cotton candy stall and the doughnut stall. Jimmy can spend ¢25 on this machine to receive a fortune.
  • Merry-go-round: This non-interactable ride sits in the middle of the carnival, but appears to be broken as it is cordoned off with portable chain link fence and warning signs. Throughout the year, this ride remains unrepaired.
  • Funhouse: A typical funhouse, here distinguished by its entrance being shaped like a clown's mouth. The interior is only accessible during the mission Funhouse Fun.

Rewards (Prize Tent)[]

Jimmy can exchange tickets won on the midway for prizes in the Prize Tent. Also inside the Prize Tent is one of each arcade console, including the only Nut Shots console in the game, as well as a broken fortune teller machine.

Notes[]

  • 10 more tickets are needed to buy a teddy bear during the mission Carnival Date.
  • The scooter (also known as a moped) will be placed in the player's garages, replacing any bicycle bought from Shiny Bikes. If a bicycle is repurchased, the scooter gets replaced by it. Repurchasing the scooter is free (unlike repurchasing bicycles).

Bugs/Glitches[]

  • If the player has bought an admission ticket and then saves and loads the game before passing to the next-game day, the admission ticket will not disappear when a new-game day begins. That means the player does not need to buy the ticket again. The glitch will be fixed by itself after Chapter 6 starts. However, the glitch can happen again if the player does the same method.

Trivia[]

  • Every character that is set to wander in free roam can be found at the carnival, excluding the prefects, the faculty, and the residents of Blue Skies Industrial Park. It is therefore the most diverse spawning location in the entire game.
  • In the Strike Out and Shooting Range minigames, when Jimmy hits the special target (Mitt and Sheriff's Star respectively), the showers inside the booth will emit golden sparks.
