Karen Johnson is a character in Bully and is a young Non-Clique Student at Bullworth Academy. She was voiced by Cai Oglesby.

Character description[]

Karen is a little girl with blue eyes and blonde hair slightly below the neck. She wears a sweater vest and tie with a skirt, all of which are the dark teal color worn by the non-clique students. In the wintertime, she wears earmuffs and white tights in addition to the usual uniform.

Characteristics[]

Karen is a sports fan with the same fervor that the Jocks have. She talks about them constantly and complains that the school doesn't have a field hockey team. She also complains that girls aren't allowed to play dodgeball or box at the club in Old Bullworth Vale. She's supposedly tried dressing up as a boy so that she can play. She also likes stunt biking, and always wants to learn how to do the tricks she sees.

Besides her passion for sports, Karen doesn't seem to have very many interests. She's generally one of the nicer people at Bullworth. When something upsets her, she takes a whiny tone in her voice. Things that upset her include how much homework she's given, not being allowed to play sports, and people fighting each other. She likes to tell tall tales on occasion, like one about a rat the size of a dog in the school basement. She uses 'crazy' and 'wild' to describe things she likes. There is a faint implication that she's not entirely happy with being a tomboy - when checking herself in a mirror she sometimes moans that she doesn't see why she bothers.

She shares a last name with Fatty Johnson, Cornelius Johnson, and Mr. Johnson. In one line of dialogue she mentions that she has a brother who doesn't dress well[1], and when complimenting Jimmy's haircut she compares it to her brother's [2]. It is quite possible that she is referring to Fatty, as Nerds are stereotypically disinterested in grooming and fashion, but the quote is too vague for it to be certain. It is highly unlikely that she is related to Cornelius or Mr. Johnson, as the former is a different race and the latter hates Bullworth Academy.

Role in game[]

Karen gives Jimmy two errands in the game, one of which involves him egging the Boys' Dorm, and the other where he retrieves her teddy bear that was stolen from her by Wade.

She appears in the Scholarship Edition and Anniversary Edition-only mission Rudy the Red Nosed Santa as one of the Generic Kids, where she's quite rude to Rudy and makes faces at Jimmy while he tries to take her picture.

Deleted content[]

Deleted dialogue indicates that at one point in the mission Halloween she was to provide Jimmy with marbles to trip somebody. She also had a small role in Complete Mayhem where she argued with Melody over an unknown boy.

She also seems to have had no less than six deleted errands: one in which she's lost and needs help finding her way back, one in which she can't find the police station, one where she asks Jimmy to throw snowballs at people, one where she asks him to stuff people in lockers, one where she asks Jimmy to plant chocolates in a locker, and one where he has to accompany her to something called the Nerd Store.

Trivia[]

  • Karen, Bryce and Dan share a series of errors in their GREE (greeting) dialogue. Their GREEAF (greeting an adult female) is greeting an adult male. The GREEGW is supposed to be Jimmy's girlfriends greeting him (greeting - girl won), but for Bryce, Dan and Karen it is greeting an adult female. The GREEAM line is usually for greeting an adult male. Karen doesn't have this line at all but for Bryce and Dan it's switched with their GREEHG (greeting a hot girl) line.
  • Karen is also lacking dialogue for complimenting most kinds of clothing.
  1. Karen_GREECL_v1: "Oh I wish my brother dressed as well as you did."
  2. Karen_GREEPHCL_v1: "I like your haircut. Reminds me of my brother."
