PaperRoute-BSE-Title

Paper Route is a job Jimmy can take on beginning in Chapter 2, after passing the mission Last Minute Shopping. It is available from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The Job[]

PaperRoute-BSE

The job is located at the newspaper stand at the bottom of the hill on the street that spans between the commercial district and the residential district within Old Bullworth Vale.

Jimmy is given a Girls' Bike, presumably because the newspapers can be stored in the basket. He must quickly ride up the hill and pick up the papers, then deliver them by throwing them from his bike into mailboxes, which can be aimed at using auto-targeting. While riding his route, Jimmy may encounter dogs chasing him on sight, Preppies throwing eggs (snowballs during winter) at him or, on rare occasions, Mr. Svenson. The dogs can be scared off by hitting them with the front wheel of Jimmy's bike, while the Preppies won't actually try to reach Jimmy and fight him. Fighting back against Mr. Svenson results in an immediate red trouble meter, so Jimmy can only try to outrun him to keep up.

After a successful delivery of all papers, Jimmy receives $2 for each paper he delivered, and new clients are added for the next delivery, up to level 5. The first time level 5 is passed, the award ribbon trophy is added to Jimmy's dorm room.

Level Details[]

Level Number of Clients Time Limit
(in seconds)
Reward
1 (Intro) 7 $14
2 10 $20
3 14 $28
4 19 $38
5 24 $48

Glitch[]

  • During the paper route, Mr. Burton can be seen jogging. If Jimmy is grappled by Mr. Svenson while Burton is watching and Jimmy has an empty trouble meter, Burton will attempt to grab and bust Mr. Svenson. However, he can't - his grabs go through Mr. Svenson without connecting. This is caused by the way the game stats are conceived, as faculty have 100% respect for the townsfolk, therefore not allowing a bust to occur.

Trivia[]

  • Just like in bike races, the player can choose which bike can be used in the paper route by leaving a bike near the marker. Jimmy will still start the route on the Girls' Bike, but he can immediately dismount it and then jump onto his previous bike, as it doesn't disappear after starting the job.
  • Even though the Girls' Bike is provided by the game for Jimmy to use, getting on it is considered bike theft and earns Jimmy a full yellow trouble meter. As long as Jimmy causes no further trouble, this shouldn't cause him any difficulties as authority figures don't actively give pursuit on a yellow trouble meter.
  • Even though there are 5 levels and completing the fifth level rewards Jimmy with a room trophy, only the first two levels are necessary for 100% game completion purposes. But the trophy still does count toward the number of trophies earned, therefore indirectly contributing towards a percentage increase.
